Newark, New Jersey: The 5TH Annual Miss Africa Tri State Humanitarian Pageant was held on Saturday, June 20th 2015 at Paul Robeson Center in Newark New Jersey, in Partnership with the City of Newark, NJ, and it turned out to be a huge success.
Some of the dignitaries in attendance at the much anticipated event include: Deputy Mayor of Newark – Hon Ugo Nwaokoro, Council President City of Newark – Hon Mildred Crump, Ambassador of Suriname; His Excellency Ambassador Henry Mac Donald, and a long list of great and important people in the community that trooped out to make it a memorable night. MoneyGram, was the official sponsor of the event, had lots of free gifts and raffles for the guests. Congratulations to ALL the contestants for bringing their best games on. Congratulations to the Crowned Miss Africa Tri State 2015 – Yalikha Soumah of Guinea, 1st Runner Up – Cynthia Igbinosa of Nigeria, and 2nd Runner Up – Claudia Onronto – Pratt of SierraLeone.
Another highlight at the event was when Congressman Donald Payne honored the President of Miss Africa TriState Humanitarian Pageant – Mrs. Olamide Davies Talabi with a Proclamation and Recognition Award at the event for her positive contribution to the community. The Congressman who would also be the “ Honorary Patron” of the organization’s Pageant addition – MISS BLACKELITE USA (The yearly winner of Miss Africa Tri State would compete for the title of Miss Black Elite USA alongside other young women from Jamaica, Haiti,Africa and African Americans) Congratulations to Ms. Fatou Thiam of Senegal of being the first title holder.
